Starting from: $2500 per+ tax, plus electrical permit costs
that vary from city to city
Step 1
Determine if your power lines from BC Hydro are coming overhead or underground. Underground service will have a PVC pipe coming from the earth to the BC Hydro meter base. The required PVC size is 3”, if a 3” PVC pipe is not installed a replacement PVC pipe will need to be installed. This will be an additional cost of $1500-$3000 approx. Additional Hydro-Vac costs, material and additional labor are required.
Questions will need to ask: Why are you wanting an upgrade, Electric Car Charger, Hot Tub, Renovations, etc.? Where is the main electrical panel and BC hydro meter located? We will require images of the main electrical panel, and BC hydro meter base.
Step 2
Once these questions have been answered and images have been sent to [email protected], we can provide a quote via email. Once a quote is approved, we ask for a deposit prior to pulling permits and scheduling. Permits take up to a week to be issued, and then the project needs to be scheduled with BC hydro which may take up-to two weeks. Once a day has been scheduled, we will inform the customer of the date.
KEY NOTES:
-
- Additional cost for drywall asbestos testing for homes built prior to 1990 (Approx: $350)
- BC HYDRO charges their own separate fees for connection, approx.: $1200 (Paid directly to BC Hydro, customer must call in and approve charges prior to BC hydro starting the work order.
- We aim to reduce the amount of damage done to your home during the install. However, unforeseen issues do arise and we like to notify customers prior that additional drywall/paint damage maybe required. Electrical contractors are not responsible for drywall/paint repair, fireproofing or additional vapor sealing in renovation settings.
- Additional work: Required if a new 3” PVC pipe is needing to be installed, additional cost of HYDRO-VAC services, material, and labor.
- Additional work: Required if the original pipe is damaged. In some cases, the original 3” pipe is damaged. This won’t be determined until the day of the install. In this scenario, we may need to reschedule or call for an emergency excavation to complete the job at additional fees.
- Electrical inspector may require additional electrical items to be repaired. These are additional costs.
- Concrete repair maybe required to bury new ground plate.
- Additional junction boxes maybe required if original wiring is to short.
